Lafitte grab bag begins with trout December 30, 2008
The great thing about catching trout this time of year for Captain Theophile Bourgeois (504-341-5614) is that he only has to run about 8 minutes from his dock to catch fish. The Pen and Lake Salvador are both holding trout right now, but Bourgeois said the key to catching them is that you just have to wait them out.

Weird weather doesn’t faze DuLarge trout December 17, 2008
With all the crazy weather South Louisiana has been experiencing lately, it’s nice to know that at least one place hasn’t been adversely affected. The trout fishing out of DuLarge has been fantastic for the last few weeks, and Captain Bill Lake (985-851-6015) doesn’t see it slowing down any time soon.

Buras trout migrating to deep holes December 3, 2008
Speckled trout are starting to move to the deeper holes on the west side of Buras out of Joshua’s and Yellow Cotton Marina according to Captain John L. Taylor (504-657-9739). After banging out some good fish during Thanksgiving week, Taylor says he’s looking forward to the action continuing into the foreseeable future.

Ducks are flying over Delacroix November 24, 2008
After fretting about what the new duck season would be like around Delacroix due to the affects of Hurricane Gustav, Captain Mike Smith with Louisiana Marsh Guide Service has been happy to discover that any negative predictions have been totally proven untrue. In fact, Smith says the beginning of the first split has been very productive.

Calcasieu good for a cast-and-blast November 11, 2008

Lafitte improving after cold front October 31, 2008
Captain Mike Daigle with Cast It Charters (985-331-8548) was smoking the redfish right before the last front blew through coastal Louisiana. The increased winds blew up to 18 inches of water out of Lafitte, and the fishing suffered as a result. However, as the wind makes the shift for this weekend, Daigle says he expects things to get back to normal.

Tuna biting behind trawl boats October 21, 2008
After several days in a row of having to stay home because of strong winds, Captain Damon McKnight with Super Strike Charters (800-318-1720) finally got to get out a couple days at the end of last week. He found the yellowfin tuna right where he thought he would – feeding on the cull from trawl boats.

Daily limits at lower DuLarge October 7, 2008
Captain Bill Lake with Bayou Service (985-851-6015) has slammed the trout and redfish out of lower DuLarge the past six days. Six days worth of trout and redfish limits has him believing the fishing is as good as it gets. Hurricane Ike seems to have pushed tons of shrimp into the marsh, and the fish are going nuts.

Eastern Pontchartrain giving up good trout September 26, 2008

Calcasieu creeping back to normal September 22, 2008
